Keurig Iced Tea

Hot Vs. Iced Beverages

Now that it’s officially Spring, we must ask the question: do you switch from hot to iced?

Early in the morning, it’s hard enough to choose from all of our varieties we have to offer on greenmountaincoffee.com, but now that it’s getting warmer out, the bigger question is: to ice or not to ice?

Personally, I love a refreshing large glass of Green Mountain Coffee® Nantucket Blend® Iced Coffee K-Cup® Pack or French Vanilla Iced Coffee Vue® pack. The sweetness of the coffee, the coolness of the ice: what’s not to love? I feel completely awake and ready to go after one of those beverages!

What’s even better is that we can really brew any of our favorite K-Cup® or Vue® packs over ice. Just fill a glass to the top with ice, brew your favorite Keurig Brewed® beverage on your smallest cup size setting, add a little more ice or cream at the end and Voilà!

Don't get me wrong. There are definitely days when I just need my Celestial Seasonings® Decaf Green Tea or am craving a nice hot mug of Café Escapes® Café Mocha, to handle my chocolate fixation. But, for the most part, when spring and summer are just around the corner, so is my urge to lower that cup size setting and brew myself a tall glass of any Brewed® beverage, over ice!

Do you have any favorites that you love to 'ice'?

Maximum Brewing Action Satisfaction

So, maybe you got a new Keurig® brewer over the holidays. Or maybe you’ve had a brewer for years. Either way, there’s a lot more than just a simple cup of coffee that you can get out of this terrific little machine. Here’s some inspiration from GreenMountainCoffee.com and Keurig.com to help you think outside the bean.

  1. Explore new varieties of coffee. Sure you have your go-to blend, and no one’s going to take that away from you. But did you know, there are over 150 different K-Cup® and about 50 Vue® pack varieties of coffee out there? From light, medium, and dark roast to extra bold, flavored, or special reserve – you might just discover a new favorite or two.

  2. Try other hot brews. Coffee’s not the only cup in town. The best-loved hot tea brands are also available for your Keurig® brewer, including Bigelow, Celestial Seasonings, Lipton, Tazo, Tetley, and Twinings. And on a chilly day, kids and grown-ups alike love a cup of hot apple cider or hot cocoa.

  3. Enjoy cold beverages with Brew Over Ice packs. With specially-crafted Brew Over Ice K-Cup® and Vue® packs, it’s a cinch to make a fresh and refreshing cup of iced coffee, iced tea, lemonade or other fruit brew. Just fill a cup with ice (do not use glass), pop in a pack, brew, stir and enjoy!

  4. Involve your brewer for cooking and baking. There are lots of great recipes that call for coffee, both sweet and savory dishes. Your Keurig® brewer makes it easy to brew a single cup, fast and without cleanup. This blog has a boatload of delicious recipes, so do a little perusing for some culinary ideas.

  5. Use My K-Cup® for whole bean and ground options. For some, there’s nothing like a cup of coffee from freshly ground beans. The My K-Cup® refill pack allows you to grind your own beans or to try varieties that are only available in bags.

But it’s not just what’s in the cup that matters. Here are a few more tips.

  1. A little maintenance goes a long way. Changing your water filter every 2 months and descaling your brewer every 3-6 months will not only help extend the life of your brewer, it’ll keep your beverages tasting great. Learn more.
  2. Keep your packs in order. There are a few great space-saving options for keeping your packs handy and organized, including carousels, dispensers, and under-brewer drawers. Check out your storage options for both K-Cup® and Vue® packs.
  3. Stock up for guests. When company comes, it’s a real treat to allow everyone to choose his or her own beverage, so keep a stash of options (see #s 1,2, and 3 above) and make it easy for guests to browse packs (see #7 above).
  4. Keep in touch. Sign up at GreenMountainCoffee.com and Keurig.com (bottom left) to receive emails with exclusive discounts and special offers, new product information, and more. We’re also on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+.

Got an idea to make it an even 10? We’d love to hear from you!

Three Easy After-School Snacks to Enjoy

It’s that time of year again!  School is in session and the kids are back to their usual schedule of hopping off the bus and immediately raiding the kitchen for anything edible.  But let’s be honest here, I bet they’re not the only ones feeling that midday hunger—with lunch long behind you and hours to go until dinner is ready, we all need a three o’clock snack sometimes.

Here are some quick and easy after-school snack ideas that you can make with your kids to beat that midday hunger.  In the spirit of keeping things simple, I’ve also thought of a few beverage ideas that you can make with your Keurig® brewer to wash down these tasty snacks.

Nut Butterflies

Who doesn’t like a good bug?  Make “nut butterflies” with apples, carrots, and your favorite nut-butter.  Sandwich thin apple slices together with nut butter and then arrange four sandwiches around a carrot stick to make a butterfly, or challenge your kids to see what else they can make.  Pair your nut butterflies with a warm cup of Green Mountain Naturals® Hot Apple Cider to make a sweet and satisfying snack.

Yogurt Parfaits

Parfaits are a healthy, no-fuss option that your kids can make all by themselves.  Simply layer into a tall glass  ¼ cup of vanilla Greek yogurt followed by 2 tablespoons of granola, ¼ cup mixed fresh berries and a drizzle of honey.  While they are making parfaits, brew a few cups of Swiss Miss® Hot Cocoa to complete a snack that will rival any dessert.

Bagel Pizzas

Never reach for a frozen box of pizza snacks again!  You can make your own bagel pizzas in a matter of minutes and your kids will love that they get to choose their own toppings.  Simply spread pizza sauce or last night’s pasta sauce on bagel halves and sprinkle on a layer with mozzarella cheese and any additional toppings you might have hiding in the fridge. Place your pizzas into the toaster oven set to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 10 minutes or until the bagels are golden brown.  Enjoy your personal bagel pizza with a glass of ice cold Green Mountain Naturals® Lemonade.

Now brew yourself a relaxing cup of Celestial Seasonings® Green Tea and sit back and relax!  Keep snack time simple so you can spend more time with your family and less time in the kitchen.  Good luck in the new school year!

Water: It’s a Matter of Good Taste

Celebrate National Water Quality Month by Treating your Keurig Brewer Right

It’s perhaps less well-known than Black History Month, but a little more relevant to most of us than National Celery Month (which apparently is March). That’s right, August is Water Quality Month!

At Green Mountain Coffee®, we have our own way of celebrating and improving our water through a series of river clean-ups in the communities in which we work. You can learn more about those great efforts here and this entire week!

But we also wanted to take a moment to share some ideas about getting the best out of your own water, specifically as it relates to your Keurig Brewed® beverages.

Did you know that your cup of coffee is over 98% water? So it stands to reason that the better the taste and quality of your water, the better your coffee will be. The same holds true for tea and cocoa (not to mention all those Brew Over Ice beverages like lemonade, iced tea, and fruit brews that are helping you chill out this summer).

When it comes to the water you choose for your brew, we suggest using clean, filtered water such as you would get from a tap or pitcher filter. While some mineral content helps to lend flavor and depth to your brews – for that reason, distilled water is not recommended – you don’t want to have an overabundance of minerals…or the wrong ones.

OK, so you’ve got good tasting (and smelling) water, now you’ll want to make sure the inner-workings of your brewer are clean. Keurig® recommends de-scaling your brewer every 3-6 months depending on the hardness of your water. Don’t know how to de-scale? Here’s a quick video tutorial.

Once you’ve assured good water and a clean machine, the last 2% of getting a great cup is easy: just pick your favorite variety K-Cup® or Vue® pack and let your Keurig® brewer do its thing.

Oh, and if you have a chance to do something to help clean up the waterways in your community or to support water conservation programs here or abroad, think how much more satisfaction you’ll get from that great cup of coffee or tea. Learn more about water quality issues at www.nrdc.org/water.

Make Infused Iced Cubes to Brew Over Ice

You’ve been brewing over ice all summer, and now it’s time to jazz up your iced brew* with a little something extra – a splash of color that’s all your own.  Here are some of our favorite ice cubes turned works-of-art that will keep your drink chilly and your tumbler looking sassy:

How to make infused berry ice cubes to Brew Over Ice

Berry ice cubes – try this with Celestial Seasonings® Raspberry Ice Tea, Vitamin Burst®, or Snapple® Raspberry Iced Tea!

  • Sprinkle blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries to your ice cube tray.  Add water.  Freeze.  And voila – bejeweled ice, awaiting a tumbler to release its goodness.
  • Want to double the flavor impact?  Pulverize the berries with a fork before putting them into the ice cube tray – when the ice melts you have fresh burst of flavor in your glass.  You might just need a spoon to dig out all of those tasty morsels.

Freeze a slice of lemon in your ice cube tray with water for a citrus ice cube

Citrus ice cubes – try this with Celestial Seasonings® Southern Sweet Ice Tea, Celestial Seasonings® Unsweetened Black Tea, or Lemonade!

  • Freeze a small slice of lemon, orange, or lime in your ice cube tray with water. Or get artistic and freeze a curled piece of lemon rind! Fancy and fun all in one cold little package.
  • For an extra pop, squeeze a little lemon, orange, or lime juice into the tray before you fill with water.  Adds to the pucker-power!

Freeze Donut Shop Sweet & Creamy coffee for iced cubes

Brewed times 2 cubes – try with any Keurig Brewed® variety!

  • Time for double the flavor you love – if you’re up for a strong cuppa!  Brew your favorite Keurig Brewed® beverage as directed, bring it to room temperature, and pour it into an ice tray to freeze.  The next time you brew over ice, pull out your creative ice cubes, fill up your tumbler, and brew right over them to create a supernova of flavor!
  • Feeling adventurous?  Take cue from the previous ice cube combinations and add some fruit to your ice tea or fruit brew ice cubes
  • While you should get creative, here are some combinations to start you off:

With any luck, the rest of your summer will constantly grant you a delicious and beautiful iced drink in your hands.  Happy (iced) brewing!

*Remember: when brewing over ice, do not use glass.

Don’t Let Them Drive You Crazy: Tips to Ensure a Great Road Trip

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a week-long wanderer, chances are you’ll be spending some time in the car this summer.  If you’re a solo traveler, able to take pit-stops and sightseeing breaks whenever you please, you can probably stop reading here. If not, you might want to put some thought into keeping your traveling companions happy while you’re all cozied up for six-hour stretches in 100 cubic feet of (hopefully) climate-controlled space.

First, the kids. Back in my day, my sisters and I occupied ourselves with 100 Bottles of…er…Pop on the Wall, the License Plate Game and if we were lucky, Mad Libs. We were bored and fought like crazy all the way from New Jersey to North Carolina. Nowadays, there are all kinds of ways kids can keep entertained, but variety is really what will save you from the dreaded “Are we there yet?” For sure, load up on the electronic options. Videos and audio books are great, so is allowing everyone to make a personal music playlist – and take 5-song rotations to ensure fairness. But also be prepared with sing-alongs, scavenger hunts, and prompted conversations (“Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?”). Also, consider making a pre-travel trip to the dollar store to put together a grab-bag of new stuff that gets strategically doled out during the ride.

Traveling with kids or not, probably the most essential thing to be prepared with is snacks. Remember, salty snacks lead to thirst lead to drinking lead to rest areas. Think grapes over pretzels, trail mix over cold cuts. That said, it’s still important to stay hydrated. Travel cups and tumblers allow you to hit the road with a beverage at the ready. Your Keurig® brewer makes it easy to please everyone: coffee for the pilot, iced tea for the navigator, lemonade or fruit brews for the back-seat drivers. Sometimes though, nothing beats a stop to refuel both your vehicle and passengers, and a little leg-stretching can be a sanity-saver. There are some good apps out there that let you know what amenities are available at upcoming exits.

Finally, keep in mind that the greatest challenge of a road trip is also one of its gifts: extended time together. In today’s reality of jam-packed schedules and the often-antisocial world of social media, an extended car-ride is a chance to reconnect and simply enjoy each other’s company. And looking back years from now, it’s quite possible that the most memorable part of your trip will be the journey.

We’re sure there are tons of great road trip tips out there. What are some of yours?

Tips to Pick and Pack a Picnic for the Fourth

Packing for a Picnic for The 4th of July

In case you hadn’t noticed, picnic season is in full swing. As we countdown to July 4th, it seems like a good time to offer some inspiration in putting together a perfect picnic basket to be enjoyed with or without the benefit of fireworks.

To help keep things organized, let’s start with the non-food items you’ll want to pack.

If your early summer weather has been a fraction as soggy as it’s been in Vermont, it might be nice bring a tarp in addition to a blanket, ideally one that can fit most of your picnickers’ behinds, and that is pleasant to sit on (the blanket, that is).

Paper plates and plastic ware…check. Cloth napkins are nice since they won’t blow away if the wind picks up. Handy wipes for messy foods and kids, a couple of garbage bags, aluminum foil, and/or plastic baggies for any leftovers. For entertaining the little ones, pack a flying disc, whiffle ball set, bubbles, butterfly net. Leave the tablets and digital babysitters at home.

Now the food. It sounds obvious, but you’ll want to put together a menu of foods that actually taste good cold. I much prefer my fried chicken hot and greasy, so that won’t find its way into my picnic basket. Veggies and hummus, chips and salsa or popcorn are good for snacking. Setting up a “sandwich bar” is a great option for the main meal. If you go this route, do all the slicing and dicing ahead of time, keeping everything in its own container to avoid sogginess and cross-flavoring: not everyone likes their bread soaked with pickle juice. For dessert, a pan of brownies is a crowd-pleaser and nothing says summer like slices of sweet watermelon. Pit-spitting contests are encouraged.

Finally, considering you are reading a blog entry from a company that sells beverages – or rather, a company that sells single serve beverage packs and brewers – there is clearly one key item I’ve forgotten. The drinks! If you think your Keurig® brewer can only be enjoyed at home, consider the to-go options a spill-resistant, Brew Over Ice tumbler presents you with: fresh-tasting lemonade, iced tea flavors like Half-and-Half and Snapple®, delicious iced coffee, and a splash of fruit flavor with Vitamin Burst® iced brews.

True, these tumblers don’t come in six-packs like some other popular beverage items, but you can at least enjoy a little refreshment during the ride to the festivities. And with a car filled to the gills with gear and kids and dogs, that might just be the nicest way to keep your cool.

Happy 4th, everyone!

Helping My Mom Chill Out

Amy's Mom Chilling Out

My parents recently bought their first Keurig® brewer as a show of support for when I became a genuine Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. employee. In contrast to their 27-year-old drip maker, the Keurig® brewer was clean, fast, and – most important for my mother who panics when she has to use an ATM – easy to use. She called me the other day to let me know how nice it was that she no longer had to choke down my father’s “Hair on Your Chest” coffee and that she could enjoy what he calls her “Fru-fru Flavored” brews.

In that moment, I decided she was ready for the next level in K-Cup® pack satisfaction.

Me: You know, Mom, you can also make cold drinks from the brewer. Iced tea and lemonade, n’stuff.

Mom: Oh, no, I didn’t realize that. I don’t drink iced tea anymore (Estelle thought it could lead to kidney stones), but lemonade would be nice.

Me: Yeah, it’s actually just the same process as brewing hot drinks.

Mom: I didn’t see a cold button on the machine. Where is that?

Me: There isn’t one. You’re still brewing hot, but you do it over ice in a glass…well, not in a glass. Don’t use glass.

Mom: How come?

Me: Remember that time I tried to cool a pot of hot soup by putting it on the glass shelf in the refrigerator?

Mom: That was a mess.

Me: Yeah. So use a plastic tumbler. Just fill it with ice and brew like you would a regular cup of coffee.

Mom: I could make an iced coffee!

Me: For sure. Except, you’re supposed to use special Brew Over Ice K-Cup® packs. They’re more concentrated so the melting ice doesn’t dilute the flavor too much.

Mom: Wow, Amy, you sure know your stuff. Of all my children, you are clearly the smartest.

OK, I may have embellished that last part, but the soup disaster is totally true. The cool part is that my mom gets to show off to all her friends how Keurig®-savvy she is.

And now, you can, too!

Present Tense – The Grad Gift

Keurig MINI Wall from Keurig's 20th Anniversary Event

I generally pride myself on being a good gift-giver, preferring to spend a little time thinking about what the recipient would actually use and appreciate before I make a trip to the store, virtual or otherwise. And – with the exception of gifts for my mother-in-law – I often seem to hit well on the mark.

So I was surprised a few weeks ago when I found myself fumbling for a graduation gift idea for my nephew. After all, there is no shortage of products aimed at males 18-25.

I started with the lofty idea of getting him a perspective-altering book that would tap into the frenetic enthusiasm of a college-bound kid on the cusp of becoming an adult. But that gift had “English major Aunt” written all over it, and I wasn’t sure he’d be able suppress a little eye-rolling.

I started looking into techy gifts, but that left me feeling old and out of touch (for a little perspective, I mortifyingly keep referring to my iPod as my Walkman). And gift cards, while practical, just seemed, well…a bit lame.

I needed help. Yahoo had the answer. And it was right under my nose, quite literally, as I sipped my morning coffee. In Yahoo’s Market Wired segment, I came across a news item: “Graduation Gifts: Top Picks for the Class of 2013.” There it was coming in at #3, the Keurig® Mini Plus Brewing System.

I’m sure dorms are no bigger today than the broom closets we had when I was in school, so a compact brewer would be the perfect crowning accessory to a stack of milk crates. And, knowing my nephew, all-nighters are likely to be the norm, so the ability to make a cup of coffee in less than two minutes, or  <marketing alert> hot cocoa, hot tea, and iced beverages like Snapple® iced teas, lemonade, and other fruit brews, seemed like a gift that got check marks in both the form and function columns. Throw in a few sampler packs and I may be in contention for favorite aunt status.

Take that Auntie Lois.

The Doctor's In for Brew Over Ice!

Here on the PR team, we’re all super excited about a recent…doctor’s visit.

Before you assume I’m about to go seriously TMI and tell you about my last physical, let me assure you that I’m not talking about my general practitioner…or any old doctor. I’m talking about THE doctor: Dr. Gadget. Last Friday, the “Guru of Giveaways” featured Keurig® Platinum Brewer and Brew Over Ice K-Cup® packs on The View’s hottest summertime gadgets segment.

“What it’s all about is this new system that they’ve got with the K-Cup®!” Dr. Gadget said, demonstrating how to Brew Over Ice with Whoopi Goldberg and Elizabeth Hasselback.

Both Elizabeth and Dr. Gadget noted that the Brew Over Ice K-Cup® packs, ranging in variety from Celestial Seasonings® Perfect Iced Teas to The Original Donut Shop® Sweet & Creamy iced coffee, are specially formulated to retain their flavor when brewed directly over ice.

“You guys know how when you take coffee and put it over ice it gets all watered down?” Dr. Gadget asked the cheering crowd. “Well, not anymore!”

And here in Vermont where the mercury has been regularly rising to a staggering 99°F lately, we are so thankful for that.

The lucky studio audience on set that day got a brewer and K-Cup® packs to take home. No surprise there, as Dr. Gadget gives away more than $200,000 worth of products on average to The View’s audiences, according to his website. He even coined the phrase, “Everybody Gets One!” (Seriously, he did. I thought it was Oprah, too.) Anyway, we’re all thrilled to have the doctor’s approval; he even described Brew Over Ice as “perfectly blended” with a “great formula”!

Want to beat the heat in your area? Get in on this cool (literally) summertime trend ASAP! I’ve been sipping away on my Sweet & Creamy Nutty Hazelnut iced coffee in the office every day, and I think you need some in your life. You can get this tasty summer cool-down in a cup at our website, and check us out on The View in the clip below—we come in at 2:32.

Stay cool!

Mid-spring fun in the sun

I wasn't going to waste a second of the gorgeous spring weather, so I gathered a couple of buddies for some pickup games at the rec park. It was nice to shed sweaters and raincoats in favor of a t-shirt and shorts as we took in the warm sunshine. We started off with some half-field soccer and finished up by just throwing a Frisbee around for the last couple hours - just how a nice spring afternoon should be spent.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of playing with close friends on the weekends is the sideline banter. Even though we don't take our games all that seriously, we all have a bit of a competitive side that tends to come out as we play. The amount of good-natured trash talk that's thrown around during our water breaks is hilarious and makes the games much more fun. Minor boasting turns into bragging, and soon enough it just goes straight to outright insults.

We had all gotten so used to the cool, rainy weather that we all forgot how hot it gets running around in the sun all day. By the end of the afternoon, we were all a little burned, or parched, or both and looking for a cool place to relax. I invited everyone back to my house, which happens to be the closest and the one with by far the best selection of iced tea and iced coffee (might have something to do with working for a coffee company...) . Luckily, I stocked up on plenty of K-Cup® packs for my Keurig® brewer before the weekend, so I had plenty to go around.

Some of my friends are relative newcomers to the one-touch convenience of the Keurig® system, and they were especially surprised by the Brew Over Ice varieties. It only took a quick demo before I had requests for both iced tea and iced coffee - vital caffeine supplements to help us recover from our post-sports malaise.

All in all, it was a great afternoon with the guys that I hope we can keep going all spring and summer long. Here's to hoping that Mother Nature is willing to play along with the good weather...

Do you smell that? It's barbecue season - bring on the iced tea!

You know, this spring's weather has been a bit perplexing to me. A few weeks back it seemed like warm, sunny days had arrived for good, but since then the weather hasn't been able to make up its mind if it's spring or not. One minute I'll be enjoying a beautiful, 70-degree day, and then next it's suddenly cold, damp and cloudy. All of this inconsistency has made it really difficult to enjoy one of my favorite seasonal activities - grilling.

But this past weekend I decided to hedge my bets on the weather and break out the old charcoal grill. With my eye on the sky, I rounded up the wife and kids and told them to get ready for the first delicious barbecue fare of the season. The second I mentioned grilling, the kids, Spencer and Sabrina were instantly asking to help.

I have to laugh every time the kids want to be included with the barbecue, because it's almost impossible to get them to participate when I'm cooking a regular dinner in the kitchen. If there's an oven involved, neither of them are anywhere to be seen, but mention "BBQ" and they're suddenly aspiring chefs. I can't blame the kids for their enthusiasm for grilling though - meat and vegetables cooking over an open flame is what I live for in the summertime.

With my wife's supervision, I set the little ones to work shucking corn, cutting veggies and brewing some delicious Half  & Half iced tea with our Keurig® Brewer . Meanwhile, I headed out into the yard to get the grill started - all the while hoping that our first barbecue of the season wouldn't be called on account of rain.

Luckily, the clouds cleared up immediately - just in time for the kids to run outside with a couple of pitchers of delicious iced tea. I got the fire started as Sabrina poured a few glasses of Sweet Raspberry and Southern Sweet Perfect iced tea. As the weather began to warm up, I remembered just how great a cold glass of iced tea is during a summer barbecue. In fact, both of those flavors reminded me of when I was a kid and it was my dad manning the grill - cooking up incredible burgers and hot dogs.

Seems that I wasn't the only person in my neighborhood impatient for the weather to clear up. As the evening wore on, I got some serious whiffs of grilled steak and chicken wafting down my street. It's official - barbecue season is finally here. Now we'll just see if Mother Nature is willing to play along.

Announcing the new Keurig® Vue™ Brewer

You may have heard, but today it was announced that the line of Keurig® Single Cup Brewers is expanding with the addition of the Keurig® Vue brewer, a premium new platform designed with the ability to brew stronger, brew bigger, and brew hotter.

The new Vue brewer, paired with new Vue packs*, comes with all the ease and convenience of the existing Keurig® K-Cup® system with added customizable features so you have control over the strength, size, and temperature of your coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and iced beverages, as well as new frothy café beverages.

 The new Keurig Vue Brewer

Pretty nice, right?

To say the least, I can't wait for the Keurig® Vue™ Brewer to be available for purchase in the coming weeks.  It has a lot of options that I’ve been dreaming about in a single cup coffee maker:

  • Stronger Coffee: The Vue brewer adjusts water pressure, timing, and airflow so I can have the stronger brew I love in the mornings – at any size.
  • Bigger Coffee:  I can now brew into my large, stainless steel travel mug with new Vue packs specially formulated to brew a bigger cup up to 18-oz.  I’m ready to fill my travel mug with a strong cup of my favorite Green Mountain Coffee® variety, Breakfast Blend.
  • Hotter Beverages: Now, we can choose a temperature range between 187 and 197 degrees Fahrenheit to really customize our cups.  My wife Natasha enjoys drinking Celestial Seasonings Green Tea and always likes the water to be extra hot to let the tea seep. It’s like the designers had her in mind when they created the new Keurig® Vue™ Brewer!
  • And much more:  A few Sundays back, I was enjoying some Dark Magic Extra Bold with Natasha with a plate full of crêpes (I like to think I am an expert at making crêpes).  We decided to add some homemade whipped cream to the coffee and crêpes – just to mix things up. Suddenly, Natasha looked at me and said, “Wouldn’t it be great if our Keurig® brewer could make a cappuccino?” Good news: The Vue™ brewer can!  With exclusive two-step Barista Prima® Café beverages, I can now enjoy a cappuccino on the weekend when I am eating my crêpes with the family.

The Keurig® K-Cup® Brewer and the Keurig® Vue™ Brewer complement each other so well!  Deliciously simple and brewing what I like, the way I like it – what a pair!

*Just a reminder: The Keurig® Vue™ Brewer is not compatible with K-Cup® packs; they use Vue™ packs.

How to Brew Over Ice

Have you heard about Brew Over Ice?  Watch and learn how to brew your own iced coffee or iced tea with your Keurig® brewer and Brew Over Ice K-Cup® portion packs.

Brewing over ice is simple:

1. Fill a tall (16-oz.) cup with ice and place under the brewer (No glass)

2. Shake the portion pack and place in brewer.

3. Choose the brew setting (6- or 8-oz.) and press "Brew."

4. Add additional ice (and cream and sugar for coffee) as needed and enjoy!

When we’re looking to sweeten up our iced coffee, we’re big fans of adding simple syrup because it dissolved instantly and it’s super easy to make:
1. In saucepan combine 1:1 ratio of sugar and water.

2. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.

3. Store in refrigerator and add to your favorite cold (or hot) beverage when you need it!

There you have it!  What’s your favorite iced coffee or tea to make in your brewer during the summer?
